Sozopol is the oldest city on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. The town is situated on a scenic peninsula in the southern part of the Bay if Bourgas. The archaeological exploration of the site gives a proof of more than 6000 years if cultural traditions. The remains of primitive houses, vessels and bronze tools serve as evidence of the busy everyday life of the local pipulation.

   As modern tourist city, Sozopol is visited each year by thousands of tourists and guests of the southern coast of the Black Sea. This is a charming area with many natural wonders. At the beginning of September the city becomes, in a manner, the cultural capital of Bulgaria. It is home to the yearly festival of arts "APOLLONIA".
